#stampinup #faithfulinkspirations #daretogetdirtychallenge I could only carve out time to make one more project for the Splitcoaststampers.com Dare to Get Dirty Challenge. I’m getting ready to leave on vacation (yay!) and then I have a 3-week business trip, so my creative time is limited. Maybe next year I’ll be able to play in more challenges!!
For this challenge, I created a Halloween treat box using the Gift Box Punch Board. I started with a 10″ by 5″ piece of Basic Black Card Stock to make the box/base of the owl. I cut three 2″ strips of Basic Black Card Stock and then used the Best Badge Punch to create a scalloped edge. I love it when I can use a stamp in versatile ways!! I adhered the strips to the front of the box to make the owl’s feathered chest.
Next, I cut a 2-3/4″ by 3″ piece of Basic Black Card Stock. I scored the short edge at 1″, using the Simply Scored Board. I measured the center point of the opposite end at 1-5/8″ and then cut a triangle to the scored line. I adhered this piece to the box with Tear and Tape Adhesive, folding the point of the triangle to the front of the box. I adhered the tip of the triangle to the box with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I used three sizes of Circle Punches to make the eyes: The biggest circle is 1-3/8″, the Gold Glimmer Paper circle is 1″, and the last circle is 1″. I adhered these to each other and to the box with Tear and Tape Adhesive.
Finally, I stamped “happy halloween” from the “Teeny Tiny Wishes” set in Pumpkin Pie onto a Very Vanilla scrap and punched it out with the Duet Banners Punch. I tucked the banner under the owl’s beak and adhered it to the box with a Glue Dot.
This would be a sweet Halloween treat box for a classroom or for your coworkers.

Hi-I LOVE your little owl! Could you please tell us the scoring you did on the gift box punch board? Thanks so much!

Kay: A 10" piece of card stock makes a small gift box. I cut my piece to 10" by 5"–5" will be the height MINUS about 1.5" that becomes the box bottom. Follow the instructions on the punch board to make a small box.
