Creation Station: Using Two-Tone Cardstock

Hey there! Long time, no see. I haven’t been feeling the stamping creativity lately (maybe I’m spending too much time knitting), but the September Creation Station blog hop is featuring projects using Stampin’ Up’s new(ish) Two-Tone Cardstock and I wanted to challenge myself! I got a little bit of this amazing cardstock during the Stampin’ Up event earlier this year, but I haven’t played with it yet, so here goes! You’ll have to let me know how I did.

But first, a little explanation about why this Two-Tone Cardstock is so amazing. As the name implies, it has two tones of the same Stampin’ Up color–one tone on each side of the paper. Unlike the original cardstock, this paper has a white core which makes it great for paper distressing techniques like crumpling, tearing, or sanding. And it comes in 12″ by 12″ sheets, so it’s perfect for scrapbooking! And what’s more–the Two-Tone Cardstock comes in all of Stampin’ Up’s colors!

Okay, okay. Enough “advertising”! Wanna see the card I created with the Two-Tone Cardstock? Well, here it is!

This is a really cute “faux belly-band card” that my friend, Jennifer Helm, created. You can follow along with her as she creates the card over on her YouTube channel, Faithfully Stampin’–that’s what I did!! Along with the Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock, I used products from the North Pole Delivery Suite from the new mini catalog. I’m telling you: that suite is the cutest! Can you see where I used the Two-Tone Cardstock? Yep, right there on two of the front panels of the card. The thinner piece on the left is the darker side and the bigger piece on the right is the lighter side of the Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock. I embossed each with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder and then distressed them by lightly sanding them to bring out the white core.

I embellished the front of the card with two of the pre-cut pieces from one of the TWO sheets of pre-cuts from the North Pole Delivery Specialty Designer Series Paper and three Poppy Parade Dear Dots.

But, wait! There’s more than just Two-Tone Cardstock. Let’s take a look inside the card when it’s opened.

Oh my goodness! Inside you’ll find four panels! Two show off one sheet of the North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP, one contains the sentiment insert, and the fourth has another panel of the darker Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock.
