Tomorrow marks Veterans’ Day in the United States. Our friends in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries have been marking the 2 weeks running up to November 11th–which they call Remembrance Day–by wearing red poppies. The tradition of wearing the poppy for Remembrance Day comes from a poem called “In Flanders Fields.”
You can read more about the Remembrance Day poppy here.
I’ve been thinking of making my own for a few weeks now. Mine turned out bigger than I’d imagined, but I like the way it turned out.
Don’t forget to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country–both the living and the dead–on Veterans’ Day, Remembrance Day, and everyday.
