One of my stamping heroes, Justin Krieger, blogs every. single. day. He was my inspiration when I restarted my blog last year. I made a commitment to blog every weekday. I asked Justin how he did it and he told me that making a card every day gives him a little oasis of creativity (or words to that effect). Justin has a busy life–demanding job, single father of a teenager, Stampin’ Up–yet, he takes time every day for a little bit of creativity. Like I said: he’s my hero and inspiration.
Today was “one of those days.” Busy at work, doctor appointment, kids’ stuff, late dinner. I was pretty tired by the time I finally made it home tonight at 10:00. But I made a commitment, and if I can, I’m keeping it. So I ran to the stamping room, took another look at the sketch at this week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge and got to work.
I wanted to use a stamp set from the Occasions or Sale-A-Bration catalogs, but the design team and some of the other stampers had already done used them and I was afraid I’d be a copycat (especially in my haste), so I looked at my stamps and saw the “Sea Street” stamp set and instantly got an idea.
I started with two pieces of the wonderful Maritime designer series paper, added a Whisper White panel, and stamped the cute octopus in Night of Navy. I made some banners with Real Red 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon and an extra banner with a sentiment from the “And Many More” set. I finished off the design with a Whisper White button from the Neutrals Designer Buttons.
And I may be in bed before midnight!!
