#stampinup #faithfulinkspirations Well, I’ve been back from Stampin’ Up’s OnStage Live event for a while, but I haven’t been in the stampin’ studio much in the last few weeks. I’ve been lazy preparing for my twins to come home for Thanksgiving and spending time with my family. I have loads to share with you from the OnStage Live event, starting with several fun projects I made at Lydia Fiedler’s Unwind Retreat the day before the Stampin’ Up festivities started. I love attending Lydia’s classes–she creates outside the box and I always learn something new and FUN!
Lydia’s theme was “two-fer”–two related projects with two related techniques. We used the “sleeper” “Pieces & Patterns” stamp set from the annual catalog. Frankly, I did NOT like this set one whit when I saw it…but then Lydia worked her magic and it’s a set that I now feel like I have to have!! That’s one of Lydia’s goals–to find sleeper sets and make magic with them!
The first card is simple and adorable and the technique blew our socks off! We stamped the dino and bear images in Basic Black Archival Ink randomly onto a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card front. Then we stamped the same images on fun foam, fussy cut them, flipped them over and stuck them to an acrylic block and then used them as stamps to fill in the outline images with color–Flirty Flamingo and Lemon Lime Twist. How brilliant is that?!
We stamped a sentiment from the same set in Basic Black Archival Ink onto a Whisper White circle that Lydia had pre-cut with one of the circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set. I adhered my circle to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Now for the “two-fer”!! Since we already had a new, solid dino stamp (from fun foam), we used him to make an awesome shadow on this card. Ohmygosh!!! This was squee-worthy!!
We stamped the dino outline in Basic Black Archival Ink onto a Whisper White panel (I cut mine to 3-3/4″ by 5″ when I got home) and then inked up the fun foam filler in Lemon Lime Twist to make the shadow. We added another sentiment from the “Pieces & Patterns” set in Basic Black Archival Ink. Here’s Lydia’s card–read her blog, too. She’s hilarious!!
Lydia is a bit of a minimalist, but I like layers, so when I got home, I adhered my stamped panel to a 3-7/8″ by 5-1/8″ Flirty Flamingo mat and then onto a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base. So cute!!
I’ve got another pair of two-fers to share with you in the next couple of days, so check back soon!
