Creation Station Outback/Outwest

#creationstation #stampinup #faithfulinkspirations Wow! The time is flying by! I had no idea we were already in the month of March–much less a week into it! Where does the time go? I’m so excited to join the Creation Station blog hop this month because I get to break out a stamp set that I’ve had for a while but never used. Do you do that? Purchase a set that you absolutely had to have and then never get around to inking it up? Let me encourage you to find a new stamp set and ink it up!

This month the Creation Station design team is featuring succulents, cactus, natural pods, western images, and earthy elements in our project–it looks like anything goes…so here goes my project! I used the “Enjoy the Moment” stamp set from the January to June Mini Catalog and a couple of fun techniques to make this card. Why don’t you take a look first and then I’ll explain how I made it?

Growing up in central Maryland our yard was filled with sweet gum pods–they were just pointy enough and just the right size for my brother me to hurl at each in epic “gumball fights.” For this card, I stamped the sweet gum pod image from the “Enjoy the Moment” set in Versamark around the corner of a Basic White Card Stock panel. I sprinkled on Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set it with my Heat Tool. I used a Water Painter to layer on So Saffron, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake Inks–one at a time– all over the panel. I saturated the colors more around the pods to emphasize them. And I dried each layer with the Heat Tool before adding the next color. I cut this panel out with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I adhered it it to an Early Espresso Card Stock mat and then on to an Old Olive Card Stock mat.

Next, I used the Stamparatus to stamp the eucalyptus pods in Early Espresso onto So Saffron Card Stock.

I left the card stock in the Stamparatus and then I used my Water Painter to color these in with Early Espresso Ink.

I dried the image with my Heat Tool and then colored the pods with Watercolor Pencils–the pods with Daffodil Delight, the stems with Old Olive, and the tops with Early Espresso.

I used the Water Painter to spread the colors and then set it with the Heat Tool. When this was dry, I inked up the stamp again with Early Espresso and stamped over top of the image to give it back the definition that the water coloring removed.

I cut this image out with another of the Stitched Rectangle Dies and adhered it to an Old Olive mat. I adhered this to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next, I wrapped a length of Old Olive ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Pack around these layers and adhered everything to a So Saffron Card Stock card base. I stamped one of the sentiments from the “Enjoy the Moment” stamp set in Early Espesso Ink onto So Saffron Card Stock and quickly sprinkled on Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder before the ink dried. I set that with the Heat Tool. I cut this out with one of the Tastedful Labels Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, sneaking it under the water colored pod piece.

To finish the card, I added three Artistry Blooms Sequins–the most amazing sequins ever because they coordinate with everything.

I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out a stamp set that you haven’t yet inked as well as some tools you might not normally used. I spent a fun afternoon creating this card for you.
