I love a good color challenge! This month at Creation Station our challenge is all about creating a color combination using one 2024-2026 In Color, one core color, and one neutral (Basic White, Basic Beige, Basic Grey, or Basic Black). Now, my go-to basic color is Basic Black, but I’ve challenged myself to use Basic Beige which lead me to use subtle colors in my design.
I thought it would be fun to use the Hooray for Surprises Stamp Set and Dies along with my challenge colors: Basic Beige, Pretty In Pink (In Color), and Calypso Coral (core color). Because the colors were a little too subtle for me, I added lots of texture and additional elements to spice up the design.
To create the foundation for my card, I embossed a Basic Beige Card Stock panel with the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to a Calypso Coral Card Stock mat. Then, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere this to a Basic Beige Card Stock card base.
Next, I built the fun tear-off piece. I used the largest square die from the Stylish Shapes set to cut a square of Calypso Coral Card Stock and at the same time, I cut the heart element. I use highlighter tape to hold my pieces in place as I run them through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
For the focal piece, I embossed a 3″ by 3-3/4″ piece of Pretty In Pink Card Stock with a (it was news to me) retired folder. You could use the Cane Weave Embossing Folder to get the same effect. I stamped the heart image in Pretty In Pink on Basic White Card stock and adhered it over the Calypso Coral tear-off piece.
To finish the card, I added some Basic Beige Bordered Ribbon and several die-cuts from the Hooray for Surprises Dies. For a final bit of bling, I added some Blooming Pearls.
Here’s the surprise that your card recipient will shout “Hooray” when they pull the tab and tear off the heart. This is such a fun and versatile set!!
