I’m so excited for this month’s Creation Station theme: black, white and a pop of color. This combination is one of my favorites. Actually, black is my favorite color–it goes with everything!
In fact, there is usually a black, white and a pop of color swap at Stampin’ Up events–and I’ll be participating in this swap at the upcoming OnStage event at the end of March. So my card checks two boxes. Score!
I knew the For the Books stamp set and dies bundle would be perfect for a black, white and pop of color card. This bundle was the first thing I put into my cart when the January-April 2025 mini catalog came out. My daughter is an avid book lover and she works in a local indie book store, so this set was perfect for me to make cards for her! Let’s have a look at the card I created for the hop–and the swap!

I used Thick Basic White Card Stock for the card base and added a Basic Black mat. PROTIP: I cut the banner from the middle of the Basic Black mat with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies before adhering it to the card base. I embossed a Basic White Card Stock panel with the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder.
To make the stack of books, I stamped all three of the book images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Basic White Card Stock. I colored the books with Light and Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends and used the Color Lifter to lighten the pages of the bottom stack of books as well as lightening some of the stacked books. Then I used my Paper Snips to fussy cut the stack of books.
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink onto the Basic Black banner and heat embossed it with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
For that little pop of color, I die-cut a Cherry Cobbler bookmark from the For the Books dies–so there you have my black, white and a pop of color card!
