#stampinup #faithfulinkspirations In my real job, I work with a lot of military personnel. Each service has its own, time-honored traditions. For example, when someone from the Navy moves to a new position or if they retire, they’re given the traditional Naval blessing: “fair winds and following seas.” Today’s card reminds me of that traditional farewell.
I received this card during a masculine-themed swap at Stampin’ Up’s OnStage Live event in Orlando. It was designed by Hetty Jones and uses the “Lilypad Lake” stamp set. Hetty stamped the water image in Pool Party Ink onto Very Vanilla Card Stock. She stamped the sailboats on top of that in Night of Navy Ink. She filled in some details on the boats with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.
Then she stamped a Night of Navy circle from the “Swirly Frames” set around the image and cut it out with one of the Layering Circles Framelits. She adhered this to a scalloped Cherry Cobbler circle, cut with another of the Layering Circles Framelits.
Hetty stamped a sentiment from the “Lilypad Lake” set in Night of Navy onto the corner of a 3-3/4″ by 5″ Very Vanilla panel. Then she added a 2″ by 4-7/8″ strip of Twinkle, Twinkle DSP to the panel, and adhered this to a 4″ by 5-1/4″ Cherry Cobbler Card Stock mat. She wrapped a length of Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine around this before adhering everything to a Very Vanilla Card Stock card base.
To finish the card, Hetty adhered the stamped sailboat image directly to the card.
Tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, I’m going to be sharing cards I received from stampers from Japan! I’m so excited to share them with you!!! Don’t forget to come back and see them.
