I was recently asked to create some cards for a family to send out to thank those who had participated in a funeral service. The sweet lady who passed away loved the color purple, so I knew I had to use that color in my creation. I started and stopped and designed and re-designed and made a terrible mess while I was coming up with the samples for the family’s approval. I thought you might like to see behind the scenes of my creation process. (Keep reading…)
I mean, the end products are beautiful–not because I’m such a creative soul–but because Stampin’ Up’s coordinating products makes creativity easy. I used a similar layout for both cards, starting with a Thick Basic White base and adding a Basic Black mat. On top of that, I added a Highland Heather layer that I embossed with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder. I used the Spotlight on Nature Dies for the main images–one is stamped with an image from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set and the other is stamped with the Wildflower Designs Set.
I colored both images with Highland Heather and Granny Green Stampin’ Blends. I stamped the “thank you” sentiment from the Wildflower Designs set in Versamark and heat embossed with white on Basic Black card stock. I cut one with the Nested Essentials Dies and the other with the Greetings of the Season Dies. Both cards are finished with a little bling by way of the addition of Purple Fine Shimmer Gems.
Here are the prototypes. Which do you like best?
And here is the promised behind the scenes pic of the creation process.
Yikes! What a mess! Is it any wonder that I lose things as I’m working? Sometimes I have to go on an archeological dig to find something I used 5 minutes ago! (And you only see the desktop here. You can’t see the equally scary mess on the floor!)
