When Stampin’ Up released the September to December Mini Catalog with those cute little pink houses on the front, I knew the Humble Home stamp set and builder punch bundle had to go into my cart right away! When I was asked to present at a Connect & Create business builders event for other Stampin’ Up demonstrators, I knew I wanted to use this bundle for my inspiration station. Here’s what happened when my creativity kicked into high gear as I remembered what I think is one of the quintessential American songs of the 1980s: John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses.” (I’m not alone in that, “Pink Houses” was ranked No. 447 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.)
Aren’t those little pink houses adorable? I punched three houses from the Pretty In Pink Designer Series Paper (flipped one to the back side. Then I stamped the houses three times using Pretty in Pink Ink onto punched Pretty in Pink Card Stock. The Humble Home Builder Punch gave me the hearts and doorknobs as well as the house shapes. I stamped the roof in Pretty In Pink Ink onto the house shape and fussy cut just the roof. Then I stamped the doors and windows on the DSP houses–also using Pretty In Pink Ink.
Next, I embossed a 3-3/4″ by 5″ Basic White Card Stock panel with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder and adhered this to a 4″ by 5-1/4″ Pecan Pie Card Stock mat. I wrapped a length of Pretty In Pink Bordered Ribbon around this assembly and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to a Thick Basic White Card Stock card base.
I adhered the assembled little pink houses to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well. Here’s a PROTIP: When you align three pieces onto your project, place the middle piece first and then align the others to the left and right.
Finally, I used one of the Nested Essentials Dies to cut a label from Pecan Pie Card Stock. I stamped the heart from the Humble Home stamp set in Versamark Ink, sprinkled on some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set it with the Heat Tool. Then I stamped “welcome” in Versamark and embossed that with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
My little pink houses turned out so cute, if I do say so myself (and I do)! What do you think?
