I learned how to make this greeting card box from Barb Reed, a former Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I’ve added a latch to my version. Here’s how to make yours!
Start with a 6-1/2″ by 10-3/8″ piece of card stock. (Reserve the leftover 2″ by 10-3/8″ strip of card stock for a later step). Score the 6-1/2″ by 10-3/8″ card stock piece at 4-3/4″ from both ends. If you have a corner rounder punch (I used a retired envelope punch board), you can round the four corners.
Cut 2 pieces of designer series paper to 4-1/2″ by 6-1/4″ and round those corners, if desired.
Cut 2″ off the 2″ by 10-3/8″ leftover card stock strip so that it is now 2″ by 8-3/8″. Emboss the strip with a folder of your choice–don’t worry about embossing the whole strip because most of it will be hidden. Score the strip at 3-3/4″ and 4-3/4″.
Adhere the strip to one side of the 6-1/2″ by 10-3/8″ card stock piece, as shown,
Adhere the DSP pieces to each side of the 6-1/2″ by 10-3/8″ card stock piece, as shown.
Now you’ll make the box to hold the cards inside.
Cut a piece of card stock to 8″ by 7-1/2″. Score at 3/4″, 5-1/4″, and 6″ on the long side. Next, score at 3/4″ on both short sides.
Burnish all the fold lines. Cut the and bevel the tabs as shown.
Apply adhesive to the backs of each of the four tabs and adhere them to the inside, forming a box and leaving the flap open, as shown.
Apply adhesive to the outside of the flap tabs, as shown, and adhere the flaps to the outside of the box.
Adhere a 1-3/4″ by 5-3/4″ DSP piece to the top of the flap and then adhere the box to the inside of the folder.
You’ll need an “element” to adhere to the top of your box for the latch to slip under. I used a Melon Mambo circle cut with one of the Spotlight on Nature Dies, topped with a sentiment piece. Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the left side, only, so that your latch can slip underneath.
