One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up demonstrator is getting to purchase and play with products before they’re released to customers. Another wonderful perk are all the Stampin’ Up-hosted events. Earlier this year, we had an online party to take a look at some of the upcoming (now current) products from the September to December Mini Catalog. The event was hosted in all 3 Stampin’ Up markets: North America, Europe, and South Asia. I watched and crafted along with the North American presentation, but I also watched the European and South Asian presentation so that I could get more ideas for using the Nests of Winter Suite of products. One of the European demonstrators created this card. I changed in into a Christmas card I’m calling “Bird on a Wire.”
I started with a 3″ by 5″ Basic White Card Stock panel and stamped a sentiment from the Greetings of the Season set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Next. I stamped the pussy willow image from the Winterly Tree Tops set across the bottom, forming the “wire” for the bird to sit on. I colored the buds so they’d look like Christmas lights in Light Cherry Cobbler, Light Shaded Spruce, Light Balmy Blue, and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I used a Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ blend to color the branch.
I tore a 1″ by 5″ strip of Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper and adhered it to the back of the stamped panel. Then I adhered this directly to a 4″ by 5″ Early Espresso Card Stock layer and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere everything to a Cherry Cobbler Card Stock card base.
Next, I stamped the bird on a Basic White Scrap in Tuxedo Black. I used Light Cherry Cobbler, Light Balmy Blue, Light Daffodil Delight, and Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends to color the bird. I adhere the bird to the panel–sitting the bird on the wire–with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I tied a bow with some Gray Granite Baker’s Twine Essentials and adhered it to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot. The finishing touch was to add three green Earth Tone Shimmer Gems.
I think the bird on a wire is stinking cute! What do you think? If you’d like another way to use this stamp set for Christmas, please see my previous post.
I’ve made a YouTube video showing how to assemble four cards from my November Christmas card stamp-a-stack, including this one. Please watch and subscribe!
