I’ve made a lot of cards with Stampin’ Up’s Humble Home stamp set and builder punch bundle. It’s an adorable set and quite versatile. I made several projects for a Connect & Create demonstrator event, including this one that I titled “Little Pink Houses.” When the attendees visited my display, I asked them to find the card I made based on an 80’s song…and I was surprised that one of them pointed to this card and said “Burning Down the House!”
OK. That’s right! So let’s talk about how to make this card. I started with a Thick Basic White Card Stock card base. I added a 2″ by 5-1/4″ strip of Snowy Scenes DSP along the left side. PROTIP: Sometimes the “reverse” side of the DSP can be put to good use in the background!
The main panel is a 3-1/2″ by 4-1/2″ Basic White Card Stock mat onto which I used a Blending Brush to apply Calypso Coral Ink for a glow (or fire) around the house. I stamped the roof and chimney image in Pebbled Path in the center and the “from our house to yours” sentiment in the bottom corner.
Next, I punched a house from Basic White Card Stock with the Humble Home Builder punch, saving the heart and teeny-weeny-tiny doorknob. I stamped the brick image in Calypso Coral Ink onto the house, snipped off the chimney, and adhered it to the card front with Stampin Dimensionals.
I stamped the windows and doors in Pebbled Path Ink onto a Basic White scrap and fussy cut them with my Paper Snips. I adhered them and the punched heart to the front of the house with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the doorknob. PROTIP: You can use the gummy end of the Take Your Pick Tool to pick up and place the doorknob.
The sentiment is also stamped in Pebbled Path onto Basic White and I used one of the Greetings of the Season Dies to cut it out. I adhered it directly to the card, slipping it under the house.
To finish the burning down the house 80’s style Christmas card, I added three copper Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins. So cute!
I’ve made a YouTube video showing how to assemble four cards from my November Christmas card stamp-a-stack, including this one. Please watch and subscribe!
